Squirrel Dilemma

In  a grassy field
a squirrel worked all morning
burying acorns.
Squirrel-with-nut
But then…
children came to play,
and the squirrel was forced
to run away.
Squirrel
The squirrel climbed up
the nearest tree
and sat on a limb
staring down
annoyed……
She had hidden all of her acorns
in a preschool playground.
Squirrel-in-tree
Sigh.
Even squirrels make mistakes.      ~ms

Squirrels are eternal optimists though and they always seem to come out on top.

  4. Lovely. We don’t have squirrels here in New Zealand so I really enjoy seeing them when we travel.

Great story, Mary. I watched a squirrel this fall collecting mushrooms, many trips all day long – the little purple ones, which I know are poisonous. I thought, they must be able to eat them…but maybe a mistake was made. Food for thought. 😉
Thanks for stopping by my blog, happy for the connection, great stuff here.

  8. Out of curiosity, I just searched for some info on squirrels and mushrooms. Not to worry. Apparently, your squirrel know exactly what he/she was doing. Probably proud to bring home an especially delicious meal for the family. Here is the article I found:

As it said at the end of the article, that is so cool. Nature finds a way, eh?
    Thanks for that, Mary!
