    • Actually, this little bird has a strange story…
It was standing at our back door this morning (on top of a hose reel) just looking at our cats. Suddenly, it flew into the door window, fluttered, pecked at the glass, and then went back to standing on the hose reel…looking at the cats. I have no idea what this bird was thinking, or why it was acting like that! It did this over and over again. Every time the bird would flutter into the window, my female cat would rush forward and hit her head on the glass, trying to catch the bird on the other side. My male cat never moved; he just calmly watched. It was the oddest game of bird vs. cat that I have ever seen! Maybe the bird enjoyed watching my cat fall for the same trick again and again. Who knows! I took several photos of the bird standing on the hose reel—and this is the one that I liked the best.

  7. And such a wonderful path on which to wander, peppered with your beautiful pictures along the way!
As far as the bird antics, I’ve had birds peck at the window b/c they’ve seen their reflection and think its another bird. Don’t know if that is what happened in this situation. Enjoy all that food you’ve been working with, I’m sure its infused with much love.

  9. The simple things in life are always the best I find, and too many possessions and wishing to have things you haven’t got just weighs the mind down. It’s good to be able to be thankful for just being alive – something a lot of people can’t do. Thank you for your thoughtful thoughts!! 😀

    • Agreed.
Too many possessions does weigh the mind down!.
Too much to dust, clean, organize, and worry about.
And on top of all that, then we usually spend money to buy insurance to try keep it all safe. 😉

    • Thanks Lynda.
Love all of your quilts. Such beautiful designs…and I’m sure they are warm too.
      Great for this wintry weather.
Even though it is south of here, I know it can get rather cold in Alabama!
I spent a winter in Anniston, Alabama—way way back in 1972 and I still remember….’twas COLD.

It can get very cold, for a Californian. LOL! We are adjusting… We had a foot of snow three winters back. That extra cold and snow heralded the tornado swarm the following spring. (Has something to do with the jet stream and the low dipping down so far in winter) I am on pins and needles this season and hoping it will not be a repeat of 2011.

Had to look up Anniston. That’s down in the middle by Burmingham. We are all the way up, about 4 miles from the Tennessee border, and right above Huntsville. 🙂

  17. love your post – gratitude is such an underestimated attitude – as a society we are told to focus on success but success is hollow if we have not learnt gratitude – and success is so ridiculously associated with job role or finances – real success is to have found contentment with life as it is among the people we love and to be always grateful – thank you for the reminder
