Cat Warmth and Wisdom

Cat wisdom knows exactly
where to find warmth and comfort
on cold December days.

Look!
The wise cat knows exactly
how to quickly transform
an inexpensive
insulated shopping bag
into a comfortable bed—
(just don’t sit on the zipper).

Actually—
when a catnap is desired
any soft place is perfect
(especially when there’s room to stretch).

And then—
as winter days grow colder
cat wisdom instinctively
seeks sunlit spaces
to warm the fur.

Last but not least—
cat wisdom teaches us all
that the best way to create heat
on a cold, dark winter night
is in the kind arms
of a loving friend.   ~ms

  13. Beautiful cat ^.^ I like the part how they use the bag as a bed! We bought our cats some nice soft cat beds and they prefer to sleep in the box they came in – _ –

    • Yes! We have bought toys specifically for our 2 cats, but they prefer to play with things like plastic lids from a milk jug and tops of pens. We had a cat bed too…that they never used. They prefer boxes, bags, and other objects of their choosing–because we apparently don’t know what they want!

BEAUTIFUL cats. And do tell when you figure out how to get ONE to stop eating all the others food. Sigh.

Our cats are weird. The little cat will eat off the big cats plate. Then she will eat off of her plate. Then she will leave. The big cat will finish her plate, but it isn’t all of it because the little cat ate part of it. Then the big cat will go over to the little cat’s plate and eat off of it. Sometimes she will finish both plates, but more often then note she will walk away and the little cat will come back and finish off her plate. It is odd the way they eat. Watching them, I think they kind of eat the same amount. I can’t figure out if they do and one just tends to be heavier or if the “big” cat really does eat more. I have to lean towards the latter.

      • I don’t know…the way they are both eating food from each other’s bowls…it seems like your cats are almost keeping things fair and even.
Not that way here! Unfortunately, Siri always eats ALL of her food as quickly as she can.
Then our other cat (Keona), he likes to eat a little of his food and walk away (he thinks he can just come back later). But, as soon as he walks away, she immediately comes over and eats (gobbles up) the rest of his food too. So when he leaves, we have to quickly pull his food bowl up and put it away.
Of course, a few minutes later, he comes back and wonders where it went.
