South Vietnam House—Phở Gà

When  the cold winds of  January blew in,
I caught a nasty cold or maybe it was flu?
My head hurt, my throat was sore, and I could not stop coughing.
I even lost my voice!
Couldn’t think, couldn’t write—I felt like I was dying.
And then, I remembered the curative power of Phở Gà
(Vietnamese chicken noodle soup).
Just a few miles from my house there is a wonderful restaurant called South Vietnam House. In the past few years, I have seen many people order Phở Gà to take  home to an ailing family member—knowing that this tasty chicken noodle soup has the power to make colds shiver and retreat.
So, this time—
It was I who sent my kind husband out on a mission to bring home a bowl of healing Phở Gà.  And now, thank goodness, I am feeling much better!

  1. Definitely good ‘stuff.’ 🙂

  2. We went to a Vietnamese restaurant tonight called Phở 79. It’s one of the only restaurants we go to these days. My daughter was going to make my wife some Phở one time, but my wife didn’t have time to stay. My daughter told her she would make her a “Phở kit”, and my wife said “but what if I don’t wanna ‘Phở kit’?” Linguists! What can I say.

I bet there’s a lot of folks around who would like to have some of that!

    • The weather has been so crazy around here……one day 10 degrees and then the next day 65 degrees. Up down, down up! It seems that Mother Nature cannot make up her mind which way she wants to go. Many people are getting sick! I think we could all use a healthy bowl of soup at this point.

Ooooh…. I need to find a recipe for that. So glad you are feeling better and thanks for sharing.

    • The Pho Ga at South Vietnam House is made by the owner, a lady from Vietnam. The broth is homemade (not from a box or a can). Something extra special about soup that is made with personal, loving care. The steam from the broth wraps around the soul like a warm hug…..

  5. And it looks nice and tasty!

  6. The healing properties are clearly discernable also from the photos 🙂 Feel even better soon!

  7. Soup. Love it. Currently in the middle of a blizzard and hot soup is a sure means for getting through the storm. Thanks for dropping by my blog and may your blog be blessed~
