Summer green has been replaced
with Autumn’s sunlit leaves
sparkling gold and red
colors evoking visions
of magic everywhere.
Like the changing leaves
at the end of October,
Halloween celebrations
give us the opportunity
to boldly imagine and create
new visions of self
with a childlike freedom.
On Halloween day (1997),
I chose to take on the persona
of a gentle witch wearing
a black satin velvet dress.
Standing in my backyard
holding a natural magic wand
made of pampas grass plumes,
I began to conduct sounds
of bird songs, chirping crickets,
and softly falling leaves.
As I drew circles in the air
with my magical grass wand,
I began to feel a strong
connection with earth,
sky, and the universe itself.
Like a note written in time,
I realized I was an integral part
of a magnificent symphony
written by an unseen
and masterful composer.
And the power of my song
was and is in my own hands!
Note: This is the first time that I have written anything on my blog in 3 months, because when there are problems in life—my creativity seems to vanish like dust in the wind. Was recently in a car accident and I am currently doing my best to get my feet back on the ground (literally)!

**I would like to add that, this morning, when I read all of the positive comments, wishes, and hugs being sent my way, I suddenly remembered a post I wrote in 2012—where the ‘bluebird of happiness’ was sitting outside my window reprimanding me for being so sad. I just read through the post again and the words still apply—made me smile! How did I forget? I greatly appreciate all of you for jogging my memory!

Thank you, Smiling Pilgrim. Photos from a long time ago. I was ready for the Halloween party across the street (an hour early), so I decided to go out into my back yard for a while and practice casting spells. 🙂

Mary, I, too, have noticed that stress seems to stop creativity abruptly. I’m imagining, given the creativity and sparkle of this post, that at least some of that spark has returned. I’m glad you are back with us!

I am trying (rather desperately) to remember the creativity and sparkle.

So sorry about your car accident. Hope you are mending well and surrounded by much support. I’ve been so worn out by the spiritual work I’m doing lately that I rarely blog these days, so I understand.

Thanks for your prayers, Pat. I had never been in an accident like this before.
So glad to have you as my friend. Those old photos of me in my Halloween witch costume were taken in my backyard…next to your house. Long, long time ago now. Time slipped away behind my back, right in front of my face! Makes me rather sad.

There was an old guy at Del Webb
Had a friend Mary S, the celeb.
He envied her song,
but could not sing along.
So just bought her a fish instead! =)

Hmmm…the last line about the fish needs scaling (explanation).

Oh my gosh…you did have a fish…a little plastic battery powered minnow! I’ve never seen anything like this. It is so cool the way is ‘zings’ quickly around underwater, randomly changing directions. My daughter has 2 sons that spend a lot of time in the pool (they are on school swim teams). They would absolutely love this thing!

Sang tonight (Dec. 10) at the HCR Holiday Cocktail Party–where were you? Hehehehe.
We were introduced as the HCR Trio (guitar, flute, and vocalist), because the young lady didn’t know what else to call us. We did a lot of well-known Christmas songs, including ‘O Holy Night.’ The guitarist sang ‘Mr. Grinch’ by himself…because my voice is not Grinchy enough for that song. 🙂 He also sang ‘Blue Christmas.’ It was very nice.
